Practise Reframing
For each statement, say what you think the person cares about and needs and re-frame the problem in terms of the results that are important to them.
1. I hate it when you ignore me. I do not know why I talk to you at all.
What does the person care about?
What does the person need?
Re-frame what the person said.
2. If you think you can do a better job, go ahead. But do not complain to me when things go wrong.
What does the person care about?
What does the person need?
Re-frame what the person said.
3. This is the last time I do anyone a favour. You would think they would learn to say thank-you instead of telling me I did it all wrong.
What does the person care about?
What does the person need?
Re-frame what the person said.
