Make Peace Between Partners
Sometimes other team members may not agree. If they will not make peace, it may upset everyone on the team. Here are some tips you can use to help them find a win-win result [C1]:
- Ask those who do not agree to put what the other person says in other words (or paraphrase). This may help them find out if they really understand the other person.
- Ask them to make up 10 questions to ask the other person about what that team member wants to do. This will tell you what worries them most about the other person's position.
- Ask them to make a list of what they think the other person should do. Have them trade lists and see what each of them is willing to do.
- If you want to help make peace between team members, use the words they use. Do not use different words. This helps to build trust, because it looks like you have listened but are not taking sides [C10].
