Power Lines

Put a sign at one end of a long wall that says "No Power." Put a sign up at the other end of the wall that says "Most Power." Ask everyone to line up along the wall based on the amount of power that comes with their education level.

Then ask them to line up again based on each of these things in turn:

  • Job status
  • How often they tell others what to do
  • How much they can lift or carry
  • Number of decisions they make in a day
  • How loud they speak at meetings.

Ask people sometimes why they put themselves at that point on the line.

If someone is always at the "No Power" end of the line, ask them to pick a talent or positive thing about them so that they will be at the "Most Power" end of the line.

Ask people to notice how the amount of power they think they have changes with each question. Point out how each person is more powerful or less powerful in different ways.
